Lil Uzi Vert first announced Luv Is Rage 2 in late 2016. Fast forward to August 24 when Vert announced the album’s surprise release set for the very next day. It’s being called his first official full-length, but Vert has numerous mixtapes and EPs to his credit.

Uzi’s material often inflects a bit of alt/indie influence upon his trap-style hip hop. “The Way Life Goes” borrows a bit from London pop duo Oh Wonder, for instance, while Uzi tries to coach himself past the end of a relationship.

“Sauce It Up” explores partying, materialism, and other more typical rap themes. The track also pokes at those who might feel uneasy about Uzi’s occult aesthetic. Their evidence? His name kinda sounds like “Lucifer” and he only follows Marilyn Manson on Instagram. Okay, Scooter.

Even Offset from Migos, who Uzi collaborated with on his “Bad And Boujee” feature, expressed concert for Uzi’s immortal soul. As if Migos, with their common drug-slinging theme, were paragons of Christian virtue. Here was Uzi’s response.
