Abel Tesfaye serves up an uncharacteristic raspy rock scream to launch into the hook of “False Alarm” backed by a high energy groove of digitized bass and keys that sounds like it could have been a song by Brooklyn indie-rock institution TV On The Radio. Despite its pre-album release just one week after the Starboy title track “False Alarm” hasn’t received the same love or attention as the album’s big singles. If you never dove deep into The Weeknd’s excellent 2016 album, maybe this will entice you.

You’ve got two chances to see The Weeknd in Brooklyn. He’ll be at Barclays Center on June 6 and 7 alongside Rae Sremmurd, Belly, and 6LACK.
